Now is considered as one of the New 7 Wonders of the Worland a Unesco World Heritage site, Chichen Itza is located in the Yucatan Peninsula approximately two and a half hours away from Cancun.

The word Chichen Itza in Mayan language is translated as "At the mouth of the well of the water sorcerers". It was one of the most important Mayan cities of the post-classic period. It was considered as the center of power of the Yucatan Peninsula.

The most important archaeological construction found here is the Kukulkan Pyramid or "El Castillo" ("The Castle"). This construction is made by a four sided pyramid crowned by a rectangular temple on the top. Each side counts with a staircase of 91 steps which multiplied by 4 sides of the pyramid gives us 364 steps. One more step leads to the top temple representing 365 days of the year.

A clear example of the knowledge that the Mayan culture had regarding astrology is that they applied it into their architecture. This is confirmed by the light and shadow phenomenon The Equinox that takes place every spring and autumn equinox in the Kukulkan Pyramid in Chichen Itza. a shadow falls on the pyramid in the shape of a serpent. As the sun sets, this shadowy snake descends the steps to eventually join a stone serpent head at the base of the great staircase up the pyramid's side.

We can find a variety of interesting constructions in Chichen Itza as:

The ball game court; where the winners only had a one game winning streak as they were then beheaded, to honor their gods.During ritual games here, players tried to hit a 12-pound (5.4-kilogram) rubber ball through stone scoring hoops set high on the court walls

The Temple of the Warriors; is one of the most impressive structures at Chichen Itza It may be the only known late classic Maya building sufficiently big enough for really large gatherings.

The Observatory or "El Caracol": (The Snail) was dedicated to the study of astronomy and it consists of a tower erected on two rectangular platforms. The Observatory's name is derived from the unusual stairway inside resembling a snail shell.
The Sacred Cenote; Dedicated to the Chac God, the Maya God of rain and lightning. Located 300 meters north of the Chichen Itza compound, and connected to it by a causeway, the Cenote (Sinkhole well)was central to Chichén Itza

Chichen Itza Light & Sound Show: This Light & Sound Show is an amazing multicultural experience with lights, music, history legends that take place in the main Plaza and surrounds where you will be delighted with this Mayan exhibition of culture and art.
